The MacArthur Middle School book fair will be here on Monday, Dec. 11th, but you can start shopping online at this email address:   http://www.scholastic.com/bf/macarthurmiddleschool3  beginning Nov. 20th.  Our goal is to sell 551 books, which is 5% more than last year’s book fair.  We hope you’ll support us.  Please call us at 410-674-0032 and ask for the library if you have any questions.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR MAGNET APPLICANTS

School Tours for Magnet Applicants: Rising 6th graders for the 2018-2019 School Year
MacArthur Middle School is hosting tours for parents of potential magnet applicant students on the following dates:
Wednesday, October 25th 2:00-2:45
Wednesday, November 8th, 10:45 – 11:15
Wednesday, December 6th, 2:00 – 2:45

Please contact the school’s office at 410-674-0035 to R.S.V.P. for one of these tour dates. All tours must be scheduled 10 days in advance to allow time for coordination with the Fort Meade visitor’s center.

Access to Fort Meade can be granted with advance notice and is coordinated through the school with two options:
Option A: Guest List
1. Contact the school with your preferred tour date 10 days in advance of the visit at 410-674-0035.
2. Provide the school with the necessary personal information for each visitor.
3. Drive to the main Ft. Meade access gate on Reece Road & 175, provide your government I.D. and tell them you are on the guest list.
4. Proceed through security and on to the school.
Option B: Day Pass
1. Contact the school with your preferred tour date no later than 5 days in advance of the visit at 410-674-0035.
2. Visit the Fort Meade Visitor’s Control Center (VCC) at the corner of Reece Road and 175 1 day before your scheduled tour. Each person attending the tour will need to be present to obtain the visitor’s day pass.
3. Provide the visitor’s center with your personal identification information and pick up your day pass.
4. The next day present your day pass and government ID at the main checkpoint on Reece Road and 175, and proceed through security and on through the school.

Bus changes for buses 102, 186 and 609

• All Bus riders on bus 102 will now ride bus 186 in Slot 24 . The route won’t change just the bus number.
• All Bus riders on bus 186 will now ride bus 102. The route and pickup times will not change, just the bus number.
• Bus 609 will no longer come to MacArthur. All students who ride bus 609 will now ride bus 102 at the same scheduled time.

The items described below are with the required school uniform policy. This policy is for the boys and girls of our school.

 

Tops-Tops must have collars with buttons (3 or fewer) and be polo style, white for Grade 6, red for Grade 7 and navy blue for Grade 8. T-shirts (with short or long sleeves) may be worn as a layer under shirts but they must be plain and the correct grade level color.

Other Tops-Other tops may include plain/solid sweaters or sweatshirts, or MacArthur Middle School gear. Tops must be the correct grade level color. These must be worn over a school appropriate polo. “Hoodies” are not permitted. Jackets and coats may not be worn in class and must be kept in your locker.

 Pants/Shorts-Khaki tan pants, Capri tan pants and tan shorts must be worn appropriately secured around the waist.  Shorts must not be any shorter than 2 inches above the knee.

Skirts/Skorts/Jumpers-All must be khaki, tan, not denim, worn properly and securely around the waist, and may not be any shorter than 2 inches above the knee.

Jewelry and Accessories-Necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings are permitted as accessories. Handbags must be no larger than a 5” x 8” index card.

Book bags-The only book bag students can carry is a clear string bag. All other book bags must be stored in the student’s locker at the beginning of the school day. 

Please remember: Cell Phones are not part of the uniform and MUST be stored in a locked locker and turned off at all times.  Unfortunately, if a cell phone is lost or stolen, administration cannot guarantee the phone (or any other electronic device) will be located.
